How, when, and where to vote

On July 8 and 9, Fred Hutch APPs will vote on whether to bargain over wages, benefits, and working conditions together as a group — or to keep facing management individually, one worker at a time.

Eligible Fred Hutch–employed APPs may vote on either day, at either location, during any available time — regardless of when or where you are scheduled to work.

Why it matters

When workers bargain individually, the balance of power tilts toward the employer. A single employee asking for a raise does so alone — with no leverage and no guarantee that what they negotiate today survives tomorrow. The employer can say no, or yes for now and change it later.

Collective bargaining changes that. When APPs negotiate together as a unit, the contract is legally binding on both sides: wages, benefits, scheduling, safety, and workload become enforceable terms — not management’s prerogative to revise at will. An employer cannot legally cut pay or change conditions mid-contract without the union’s agreement.

A YES vote on July 8 or 9 means Fred Hutch APPs decide their future together. You vote by secret ballot — no one will know how you voted unless you choose to tell them.
